JoyCon for Mimics Viewer
Browser-only Joy-Con control for Materialise Mimics Viewer. No drivers or remapping software.
- Pair the Joy-Con with the laptop over Bluetooth, and close the old cursor-mapping software.
- Open a case in Mimics Viewer in Chrome or Edge and wait for the model to load.
- Click the bookmark. A status panel appears at the bottom left. Press any Joy-Con button once so the browser detects the controller.
- Click the bookmark again to turn it off. Reloading the page also removes it.
Through the Magic-NS Lite, the Joy-Con shows up as an Xbox 360 Controller and gets its own mapping. The status panel says which mapping is active ("Mapping: Xbox 360 (Mayflash Magic-NS Lite)"). The controls are the same as above, using these Xbox button numbers:
| Stick | Rotate |
| Hold stick click [10] + move stick | Pan |
| Hold Up [12] / Down [13] | Zoom in / out |
| Right [15] / Left [14] | Next / previous saved view |
| Minus → Back [8] | Home |
| L shoulder → LB [4] | Select next component |
| L trigger (ZL) → LT [6] | Cycle opaque / transparent / hidden |
These Xbox numbers are the standard Xbox 360 layout and haven't been confirmed with the adapter yet. Check them with Alt+D and edit the "Xbox 360" profile in joycon-mimics.js if needed. If a direct-Bluetooth Joy-Con and the adapter are both connected, the direct Joy-Con is used unless you pick the adapter with Alt+G.
If the laptop exposes more than one game input, the status panel shows which one is active, e.g. "(2 of 3 · Alt+G to change)". The script picks the input you last chose on this computer. If there is none, it picks a direct Joy-Con, then a Joy-Con through the Mayflash adapter (reported as Xbox 360), and otherwise the first input listed.
Alt+G, then press any button on the Joy-Con within 5 seconds to lock to it. A device with a stuck or always-on button can't take over, because only a new press counts.Alt+Shift+Gsteps through the connected inputs one at a time.Alt+Dlists every detected input with live stick values and button numbers. ▶ marks the active one.
The choice is saved in this browser on this laptop, so this is a one-time setup step before the case and not something to do in the sterile field.
| Stick | Rotate model |
| Hold stick click [10] + move stick | Pan (left/right reversed relative to rotation; set invertPanX to change) |
| Hold Up [2] / Down [1] arrow | Zoom in / out |
| Right [3] / Left [0] arrow | Next / previous saved view |
| Minus (−) [9] | Home (view at start) |
| L shoulder [8] | Select next component (shown in status panel) |
| L trigger (ZL) [6] | Cycle selected component: visible & opaque → transparent → hidden → visible & opaque |
First-time check: press Alt+D on the viewer page to show live button numbers and stick values in the status panel. If a button does the wrong thing, edit the btn map in joycon-mimics.js and rebuild the bookmark. If pushing the stick up rotates the model sideways, change stickRotate from 90 to −90. The SL/SR rail buttons [4]/[5] are unused because a hand gripping the Joy-Con upright can press them by accident. Button [7] is not reported by this Joy-Con.
Keyboard test without a controller: Alt+arrows rotate, Alt+Shift+arrows pan, Alt+= / Alt+− zoom, Alt+[ / ] views, Alt+H home, Alt+N next component, Alt+V cycle opaque/transparent/hidden, Alt+G choose controller.
